Tenghuang

Garcinia morella Desv resin comes from the gelatinous resin of the Garcinia morella Desv plant in the family Garcinia. It grows in Cambogia, Siam, Cociucina and Ceylan. After cutting the bark, it collects yellow sap and stores it in the tree tube. Two parts of water are ground together to form a yellow lotion with bitter taste.

Tenghuang can be purchased in domestic traditional Chinese medicine stores or in foreign paint and resin stores. The product Tenghuang is yellow in color, with a stalactite or cylindrical shape, a yellow brown cross-section, and is fragile.

Tenghuang is partially soluble in alcohol. When used in alcohol soluble resin paint, a Tenghuang ethanol solution can be prepared by soaking the crushed Tenghuang resin in ethanol at a ratio of 1:1. After about 24 hours, it can be used.

Yellow paint colored with rattan resin is prone to sagging and has poor leveling when dry. So, the amount of rattan yellow solution should be controlled during preparation. A better way is to mix it with other yellow colors to achieve the desired effect.
