Paint Color Introduction 3

rosewood
The production area of rosewood is mainly in India, and it is also produced in Yunnan, Guangdong and Guangxi provinces in China. Rosewood is a genus of leguminous plants with about 15 species, mostly found in tropical regions. There are two types of them distributed in China: one is rosewood, commonly known as small leaf sandalwood; One is rosewood, commonly known as big leaf sandalwood. Small leaved sandalwood is rarely made of large materials, with a diameter mostly within 20 centimeters. Even larger materials can become hollow, and the wood grain of small leaved sandalwood is not obvious. Its color is purple black, and some are as dark as paint, with almost no visible texture. It is generally believed that the rosewood imported by China from India is rosewood, also known as large leaved sandalwood. The texture of large leaved sandalwood is coarser and the color is lighter.

Soak the powder of rosewood in ethanol and filter it to obtain a rosewood colored solution. The color of rosewood solution can vary greatly depending on the color of the wood. A series of colors can be obtained from yellow to purple. When preparing the color of violin paint, this feature can be applied to create an ideal color tone.

The biggest characteristic of rosewood color is that it is not easily faded. A few varieties will further darken in color after sun exposure. Due to its good dispersibility and strong coloring power in paint, rosewood is an ideal coloring material for violin paint.

turmeric

Turmeric is the dried rhizome of Curcuma longa, a plant in the ginger family. When the stems and leaves wither in winter, dig them up, wash them, boil or steam them until they are fully penetrated, dry them in the sun, and remove the roots. In China, the main production areas are Sichuan, Fujian, Guangdong, and Jiangxi.

The whole turmeric sold in traditional Chinese medicine stores is irregular oval, cylindrical or hammer shaped, often curved, 2-5cm long, 1-3cm in diameter, with a dark yellow and rough surface, wrinkled texture and obvious links, as well as circular branching marks and fibrous root marks. Solid quality, not easy to break. Sometimes turmeric purchased from traditional Chinese medicine stores has been processed into slices, with cut surfaces ranging from brownish yellow to golden yellow, keratinous in appearance, and has a waxy luster. The inner layer has obvious ring patterns, and the vascular bundles are scattered in dots. The aroma is unique, with a bitter and pungent taste.

Crush turmeric and soak it in ethanol to obtain a ginger yellow solution.

The color of the ginger yellow solution is very bright, with a slight green fluorescence. The advantage of turmeric color is its good dispersibility and saturation. Paint colored with turmeric is not easy to brush. The disadvantage of turmeric color is that it easily fades under the action of light. Must be mixed with other colors.
